Services > Application Development

Our mandate is to lead the technological vanguard by providing qualified teams and developing cost-effective and easy-to-use .NET / JEE information systems. Information technology must provide practical, cost-effective business solutions, so we focus on the use of, not just the provision of technology. Locus specializes in the design, development and implementation of enterprise-wide .NET / JEE compliant multi-tier systems utilizing UPM-based methodologies. At Locus we attribute our success to our innovative approach, our extensive experience, our use of optimized methodologies, and the multi-talented professionals on our staff. Locus has achieved an excellent, referable track record within the Ontario Government through our extensive knowledge of:

  • Common Components, Applications and Services (CCAS)
  • Common Enterprise Content Management Services (ECMS)
  • Portal Software Services (PSS)

Portal deployment: Enterprise portals provide a framework for integrating information, people and processes across organizational boundaries. It provides a secure unified access point often in the form of a web-based user interface, and is designed to aggregate and personalize information through application-specific portlets. Locus continues to lead the way in enterprise portal deployment by de-centralizing content contribution and content management, which keeps the information dynamically refreshed.

Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Deployment: An Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) brings flow-related concepts such as transformation and routing to a Service-Oriented Architecture. An ESB can also provide an abstraction for endpoints. This promotes flexibility in the transport layer and enables loose coupling and easy connection between services. While some system integrators boast their knowledge of this technology, Locus provides real time examples and experience in this space. Locus is one of the few companies to have active references in deployment and development of ESB software for companies across Canada.

Consulting Services

Enterprise Content Management Services: Locus provide architecture, analysis, installation, customization, integration and tuning services for most ECM technologies such as OpenText LiveLink, Oracle UCM (Stellent), FileNet, MS SharePoint etc.

Business Process Automation-Workflow: Promotes business effectiveness and efficiency while striving for innovation, flexibility and integration with technology. Business process management attempts to continuously improve processes. It could therefore be described as a "process optimization process". At Locus, we are focused on helping our customers and partners automate business processes. We have developed our workflow development methodology and utilize Locus' award winning LiveLink Expansion Pack (LExP) software to extend the capability of LiveLink ECM.

Information Architecture: Information architecture (IA) is the art of expressing a model or concept of information used in activities that require explicit details of complex systems. Among these activities Locus specializes in Content Management Systems, Document and Records management, physical records management , web development, database development, programming, technical writing, enterprise architecture, and critical system software design. Most definitions have common qualities: a structural design of shared environments, methods of organizing and labeling websites, intranets, and online communities, and ways of bringing the principles of design and architecture to the digital landscape.
