“Reducing our environmental footprint is important. With Brava, we’re not physically moving documents and we’re not using all the paper to generate copies, so there’s a positive environmental impact.”

“Strategically, when it comes to future initiatives regarding our corporate document management system and handling of multiple formats, such as TIFF, PDF and others, including markup, we will look to Brava as a preferred choice.”

Key Features and Benefits

Browser-Based Viewing and Document Comparison

Brava offers a modern interface for viewing and annotating hundreds of file formats, making user adoption easy and training virtually unnecessary. The menus are broken out by function, making it more intuitive to end-users. Brava provides industry-leading speed and fidelity for viewing and printing functions.

Compare different versions of a document or drawing with Brava’s built-in comparison tool—useful for comparing drawing and document revisions/versions and faxed versus original contracts. Brava offers pixel-to-pixel and text comparison modes so users can choose the view best suited to their file type. Comparison views can also include annotations for easy change verifications, ensuring no changes are left unincorporated.

Collaborative Annotation

Changemarks® allow users to add comments to a document or drawing. And now with threaded discussions, groups of users can more easily collaborate and share comments. Changemarks threaded discussions lets users reply to each other and accept or reject comments—recording a complete audit trail of both the discussion and the outcome.

Brava makes it easy to load documents from a folder or Compound Document in Open Text Content Server, even a folder containing multiple file types can be combined into a single view. Compound Documents can then be printed or published to a PDF, TIFF or secure CSF. And Brava can also display thumbnail views of documents in any Content Server Workspace, Folder, or Search Page allowing users to easily identify the information they need to find.

Brava’s stamp features allow users to create custom stamps for documents or add stock stamps like APPROVED, REJECTED and CANCELLED. Not only does Brava allow you to control who can view and print documents, it allows you to force watermarks and banners to display for onscreen views and/or printed documents. These can contain information like user, date and even the IP address or host name of the user’s machine. It can also include categories and attributes from Open Text Content Server.

Intelligent Redaction Tools

Brava’s redaction tools allow removal of sensitive information from documents, drawings and images, either automatically with intelligent pattern matching and text search or manually with area selection tools. And Brava for Open Text has a pre-built “redaction and verification” workflow step which is designed to work in the Content Server environment.

Brava offers a redaction draft mode to accommodate review cycles; the ability to redact full pages rather than just selected areas; a filter capability to find redactions without reason codes (to address Freedom of Information requirements); and the ability to do partial redactions, useful for redacting all but the last four digits of a credit card or bank account number.

Protect Sensitive Information and Share Documents Securely

Brava extends the Open Text Content Server permissions set to restrict unauthorized users from downloading, copying, printing, or saving documents locally. Brava even prevents capturing information through the print screen command. This enables companies to share documents with users who have access to Open Text Content Server, but prevents information from leaving the repository.

Brava’s Group-Based Views allow you to control the specific parts of a document each Open Text Content Server group member can see. Apply these “views” to a single document or all documents in a specific folder in order to automatically block out sensitive or non-essential information on a user-by-user basis.

Brava enables secure sharing of files outside the Open Text Content Server environment with secure CSF. Secure CSF is an encrypted, compressed format specifically designed to help companies control their content. With secure CSF, users can add document security controls which include adding password protection; restricting print, copy, layer views, and more; adding watermarks and banners; and time-expiring the file.

Working with CAD Files

Changemarks step reviewers through every comment, ensuring nothing is missed. This feature is particularly important for large drawings and multi-page files. With CAD files, vector data is not converted to pixels (rasterized), thus maintaining the integrity and fidelity of the drawing. Brava’s compare feature allows users to easily view at-a-glance any modifications that have been made to a drawing.

A takeoff count allows users to count items on drawings such as doors and windows and aggregate areas for flooring or other materials for purchasing decisions. Users can create separate profiles for each count using different colors, and then create a report in a spreadsheet format.

Users running Flash-enabled browsers or devices can view files directly from Open Text Content Server using the zero-footprint Brava Flash viewer.

Supports virtually all office, image, and CAD formats, including PDF
